In "Next-gen microwave ovens are small enough to sling on your back" (2016), David Hambling introduces 2 new microwave ovens. One is a portable microwave oven which is in compact size with high efficiency. In addition, it does not create smoke and carbon monoxide like camp stoves. Thus, it is suitable for someone like backpacker. Another one is smart oven which can cook complex items that require different heat at the same time.

My Yes/No question is:
Do you want to bring your own microwave cooker when you go backpacking?
My answer is:
Yes, I prefer hot food.
I love cooking my own food. One of the reason is that I can eat it when it is still hot. I do not like cold noodle or rice. Heat make food more delicious. So, it might be good to have my own personal microwave cooker with me everywhere I go.
Sometime I want to buy street food and have them for lunch. However, if I buy it in the morning and leave it in the room with air-condition for 3 hour, it will be cold as it just get out from the refrigerator and that make the taste worse.
It might make people healthier by killing some bacteria in food with its heat. Street food might contain a lot of bacteria due to the fact that they are cook next to the street and cookers do not concern about hygiene. So, it one wants to have street food it is a good idea to heat it before eating.

That sounds quite interesting for modern technology and actually, if it can be carried to everywhere you want, it might have to be carried with "powerbank" for two new microwave ovens as general microwaves have to be connected with power supplies, so that they are able to work. But, if new ovens can work in everywhere we want, this means you don't have to connect it with electric sources. That sounds good.
ReplyDeleteRegarding food you buy through stalls, it allows me to think about a roti (an Indian subcontinent flat bread). My father told me that I shouldn't buy rotis from street stalls since they didn't attend about hygiene of rotis. For example, when merchants selling rotis want to piss, they will piss in places where are near their stalls. Badly, some of them don't wash their hands before selling rotis. So far, I have eaten rotis about once per year.
What should I react after reading your comment mentioning to my most fav dessert dish? I've heard a lot from this kind of comment but I ignored it.
DeleteI think I need to defend for Roti merchants. Actually, I've never got a diarrhea from Roti but I had from the other street food and even the restaurant in some luxury shopping mall. That's bad!

DeleteI agree with you that cold foods are horrible that make me feel sick and disgusted like eating the chewed left over foods. This microwave might be useful to have when you're travelling and could get rid of some bacteria in the foods.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don't think I need microwave when I go on a trip, since I don't cook and prefer the local foods.
No, I don't think so but I agree with you that eating hot food is very fascinating for me. However, I don't like hot food so that I need to carry that machine with me outside.
ReplyDeleteThe other reason is I don't like the reheated food much. I think its taste is changed a little. Furthermore, I don't think hot food in Bangkok are too hard to find that much. Talking about food, I need to commit that I'm a conservative.
