In "Health advert sparks gaming row", BBC News reports on the argument over a recent advertisement promoting a healthier lifestyle for children (2009). The ad. is part of British government Department of Health campaign to encourage parents to be more aware of the risks of unhealthy behaviour, and also to make them more aware of solutions. Although agreeing that the message is important, computer game producers are angry about the image of a child playing a computer game in the advertisement.
What do you think? Is the advertisement OK, or should a different image have been used, perhaps a picture of an equally inactive child reading Harry Potter?

I don't think the government should do campaigns like this.
ReplyDeleteI think that this campain is ok, but the goverment should be careful when they chose the image. Of course the computer game producers will be angry because it like imply them when the picture was showed. Theu should not use the picture of the child reading Harry Potter too, mabe it will make the Harry Potter's publiser angry.

ReplyDeleteI think computer game play important role stimulate the risk of unhealthy behaviour in children. For this reason, in my opinion I concur to use the image of of a child playing a computer game in the advertisement.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think this picture is OK because the computer game is one factor that can make problem with children. I have seen in the new that children imitative from game which they play make crime. It is a serious problem now. Many children spend lot of time to play it that cause they lose ability for brain development such as reading and writing skill.

They never takecare of their child with health disease of the computer game.Of course, the computer game producer'll angry about this ad because when the parents saw this ad maybe they could stop their child to play computer game anymore.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with this campaign and advertisement because this is too excessive and unfair. It is natural for the game industry to condemn the ad. Playing computer games itself is not a problem and an unhealthy habit. Playing them a long time without any physical activities causes some serious problems, such as bad health. The goverment should insist on this point with the ad and also the image should be changed into the appropriate one.

Although,computer game is part of unhealthy behavior in children.I think the goverment should change picture but it shouldn't use the picture which the child reading Harry Potter,too.I think parents have to interest your children and spend more times to stay with your children for reduce risk of unhealthy behavior.

In my view, this advetisment use a suitable picture. I don't mean that children should avoid to play game computer. I know it is a way to relax but they spend their time on it too much ,and it probably will be a main problem in future. Thus, this is a good way to motivate parents to take care their children.

In my opinion, this ad should compare bet unhealthy behavior and suitable behavior such as the child play game station alone without friends and parent and the child play or read the book with parent. It support reason why should parent aware with unhealthy behavior and don't let your child alone with computer games. I agree with opinion 's mi the computer games isn't problem of unhealthy behavior, we can screen games which is suitable for child but the parent should teach the right something for he become the gentle adult in the future.
