Attempt to block 'Ground Zero mosque' fails

“Attempt to block’Ground zero mosque’ fail” is interesting. This news is a little bit old on the BBC News but the event is being followed in the New York Times. It’s related to different ideas in the American society about the mosque that was planed to be built near ground zero area in Manhattan

Cordoba Initiative, the organization aiming to achieve a tipping point in Muslim-West relationship, plans to build a mosque on the site of the old Burlington Coat Factory at 45-47 Park Place which is closed to the site of the Twin Towers. The project was approved on Aug. 3,2010 by the New York City’s Landmarks Preservation Commission for the construction. This issue causes widespread serious debate between the protesters who are mainly American and the backers who are mainly American Muslim. There are many negative thoughts toward Muslims from the protesters such as Muslims are extremists, the mosque is being located near the place where the war was started, and Islam is the symbol of terrorists. The backers have tried to convince the opponents that these information are wrong and not all Muslims are terrorists . They are not bad people. But it seems to be useless. This controversy has continued and the schism has occurred.

I think the protesters misunderstood and received disinformations, particularly from western press agencies. They strongly insist on their thoughts that all of Muslims are responsible for the 9/11 incident and they are the symbol of terrorism and extremists. In fact, few Muslims are terrorists and there are extremists among all religions. It’s hard to change their ideas because their thoughts have been deeply embedded. Most of the Muslims are good and religious . They should be treated the same the others.

In Thailand, we also have similar problems. The first ending was a disaster and nd the next event is still going on. Having a peace in Thailand is not easy anymore and we all know that.

  1. M,

In my opinion, the controversy between the relatives of 9'11 victims and the American-Muslim community is so strong and hard to be cured. Although it should not be concluded that all Muslims are terrorists or even collaborate with the chaos around the world, planning to build a mosque at ground zero isnot suitable and make the situation getting worst. Therefore, it would be better to stop this plan and find other proper place for it.

  2. M,
Why do you think it is not suitable to build a mosque at ground zero?

A lot of Americans obviously think similarly, but do they have any good reasons or only bad reasons?
I'm not pro-Islam; I think it is as false as every other religion, but unless they are causing actual harm to others, I think people should be allowed to practise whatever religion they happen to accidentally belief in, however false and silly that religion might be.

  3. I don’t think it is not suitable to build a mosque near ground zero.

The problems is the protesters strongly believe that all Muslims are responsible the 9/11 incident because the terrorists has announced this violence related to their religion, Islam ,in spite of just few Muslims participating in this event and there are extremists in all other religions. the protesters must distinguish between the terrorists and Muslim including to understand the cause of the 9/11 is terrorist ,not Muslims or Islam.

Moreover, whether this mosque are built, the terrorist is still being.
