Professor Rob Lee from Exeter University propose that the symbols carved on the relic are words. He uses a method which comparing the symbols with many patterns to support his theory. On the other hand, French linguist named Arnaud Fournet is disagree. He says that Prof. Lee is treat a two-dimentional picture as it is an one-dementional alphabet. So, both of them can not sum up into a conclusion.
In my opinion, I agree with Mr.Fournet-- they must be a picture of something. Because if the symbols representing an alphabet, why English predecessor didn't formed it in line as Sumerians' cuniform. I think it is more reasonable if prof. Lee says that the symbols are use for representing an emblem. What are yours?

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. If that "picture" on the stone in the picture (confused?....^_^; ) are the alphabets, I must really have a problem writing their, nowadays I can't just write Thai and English characters properly.
Pong,
ReplyDeleteI think that the pictures, carved on stone must be a picture ,or at least a pictural language like hieroglyphs.
