How safe is your password?

Do you think your password is safe from burglar? What do they can do?

By reading the BBC News article How safe isyour password?

”(2015),The hacker has 3 primary ways to crack your password. First is phishing scams, this method will send a fake email to you that asks you to enter your password. Guessing the password is the second thing that the hacker will do from the famous password such as the word “password” or “123456”. The last thing is using the program that will give the password within three minutes.
After reading the article, I think we should more be careful about open a strange e-mail. I suggest 2 ways to be safe from the hacker. First is not to use the same password in everything, but in this way, you have to remember many things and it’s easy to forget it. The second thing is not to send the important information or the secret by the internet.
In my opinion, if you’re not the important person or don’t do the important thing, it will be hard that the hacker will be interesting in your information or your secret because hacking has a charge to do it such as employing the hacker, and buying the program.
Technology gives a good and bad thing to us. Just uses it in a correct way and not be careless on it!

  1. I agree with you, many people lost a lot of money by using internet, so we have to use it carefully. However , this article remind me the word "Hacker", this is the word for a person who uses computers to to data, but it also has the word "Cracker" who is worse than hacker because he can access the data and sell that information for money.

    1. Thank you for your comment. It make me know the different between hacker and craker clearly.

  2. I would like to suggest tips on how to make your password stronger and hard to guess. First, you should try not to use your personal data such as birthday or your name. Second, your password should be 10 characters long (Others would suggest that at least 6 characters for your password should be suffice, but I don't agree so mine was 16 characters.) Third, if it's allowed, please do use special character such as hyphen or dollar sign.

    1. That is a very useful tips. Moreover, in some website, when you are creating your password, there is a gauge that tell you how strong of your password. It was very useful too.

    2. I agree with Knut. I already follow Tin's suggested tips. For most things, I let a program generate a random 16 character password, which I don't try to remember: I remember three strong ones that give me access to all the others.

I also use two factor authentication where I can. For example, to sign in to my personal Gmail or MS accounts, you also need to enter a code sent to my mobile number.

And because it gives such intimate access to my personal life, and bank accounts, I keep my smartphone and other devices encrypted.

  3. My password is quite strong, I think. But one of my bad habits is I use the same password in almost every account because I can't remember them all if they have different code. Anyway, my account has nothing important if some hackers want to get in to mine, they will be regret lol

    1. If hackers got my personal Gmail, banking or other passwords, they could cause some serious damage.
I use two factor authentication for important accounts, but confess that my AUAthailand account is about the only one that isn't very secure. And a couple of other silly things that I really don't care about.

  4. The three ways which you reported make me know that it is really easy to steal anything on internet. However, I still think that keeping my important thing is safe and comfortable. We can create our private password which other people cannot guess. Moreover, I can access to it everywhere.

  5. For me, I am a person who often forgets my password. I agree with you that we should not set the same passwords for all account; However, it made me confuse and forget it. Nowadays, I think hackers know your password more difficult because the program requires you to set Capital letter+letter+number that makes your password strong and more difficult to guess.

    1. As I wrote in a previous comment, I don't even try to remember my passwords for things like Facebook and Twitter: I store them all safely in an online password vault for which I do remember the strong passwords.

But I also greatly like the convenience of being able to access my phone and tablet using a fingerprint. This didn't work very well well on the previous (last year) generation of their products, but on the new Samsung smartphones, it works very well. It probably isn't as secure as the password that also locks my phone, and which must be entered when it's turned on, but I think the fingerprint access is secure enough.

  6. I have my username and password in many website, so I can't remember it all. Sometimes I must click "forget password?" button to ask for an e-mail to change my password. I think It is very hard to remember all different password that I have; therefore, in some website that is not important for me, I will use the same password. In addition, I have very strong password for important website and I won't tell you.

  7. well, that's the question i keep asking myself every time i log in to some websites because i know that my password is not strong enough. But it cant help, if i set the password so hard that the hacker cant mess with, i'm sure that it's also myself that cant get in to my account cause i forget it :P

    1. Yes, I agree with you. Now I normally use gmail but today I can't log in to my hotmail because I forget the password. So, I will miss some important message from hotmail.

  8. When I read this, I just thought that when you enter wrong password for several time in most websites, you will be asked to enter alphabets or numbers from the picture. I guess that this is a way to protect computer software that will try to guess your password by rapidly enter it many time because computer cannot read the alphabets and numbers in the picture, especially one that is modified the shape to be harder to detect.

    1. I agree with you but you really know that the computer can't read the alphabets? I think computer is developed much better everyday, maybe some programmer might make a program to do it now.

  9. I do agree with you that we should more be careful about open a strange e-mail". When i was in the university, I had learned the subject is called that " Data encryption methods". It is the subject about decode and encode data. It made me know how to reach the other's password easily. It seems like a Hacker but it is not.

When you create the password, you have to use both the number and the consonant or use the capital letter in it. Moreover, you better create a long password at least 8 -10 letters would be perfect. Because it is quite hard to encode and it would be protect your private information.
