Supper nature

The Bangkok Post reported that The Sala Pu Por Kao Shrine in Sakhon Nakhon province is northeast of Thailand is located in the middle of the road, but the area is free of accidents. When I read this news,i felt surprised. I have a question on my mind , Is it true or not? I read another paragraphs which said that no accidents occur at the site because motorists slow down when approaching it to pay respect to The Sala Pu Por Kao Shrine.

I suddenly knew the reason and understood because motorists slow down in this area. Then if the traffic police set up checkpoints on the road, it can reduce fast drivers and accidents.

If motorcyclists see the police, they will not drive so fast. This is an accident preventive measure which it cause careful driving. In the past, The traffic police is used to Ja Shie which is a fiberglass police statue standing in dangerous areas, as if the police are standing on the roads. However, it isn't effective, subsequently, motorcyclists still drive fast. We still hear that there are serious accidents in on many media everyday and is a nation problem affecting government revenue. It reflects the failure of security management. For example, Songkran festivities period which has more than 300 deaths caused by vehicle accident every year.

The government tries to campaign for careful driving to decrease death statistics, but nothing happens. People suggested to government that we should have a strict law and severe punishment. The lawmakers made the new traffic act with a lot of preventive measures.

It isn't affective with the behavior of fast drivers. Trying to resolve this problem seems far success, as if it starts again and again, never reaching a target. If we find out the way to reach the goal,we can save many lives and many assets from damage by car accidents.

  1. This is a tragedy for Thailand. A lot of people died in motorcycle accident; moreover, most of them are teenager who is impatient and careless. I think if police can solve this problem, the number of death will decrease enormously. However, it depends on driver behavior. If they don't care for themselves, it is hard to help them.

    1. And drugs are a contributing factor in a large percentage of traffic accidents: 47% last Songkran.

  2. I agree that strict traffic law can decrease number of accident. However, I don't think that it can create a big change. In the USA for example, the law is much more strict than in Thailand. American people also pay more attention to it than us. But the number of car accidents in America is still very high.

  3. I think, firstly,Thai people should learn how to use the road to cooperation in solving traffic problems or decreasing vehicle accidents. Thai people always lack of conscious minds. This is why the car accidents is more increasing than earlier.

Thai people should concern about drive safety, care for commuters on the same route, and don't drive over speed limit. Even if the car accidents are still exist but it might be decreasing.

The second thing that Thailand should change as soon as possible is Thai laws, it should be strong and have severe punishment for reckless driving. And the culprits should deserve properly punishment. For example, if they drove careless and made others died, they should deserve life imprisonment. No exception taken.

I do appreciate Islamic laws in the middle-east. Everybody are equal and no exception. For example, if you kill people, the punishment is death. It's fair enough that you deserve what you have done.

    1. I agree with your opinion, Thai laws should change to be more strict and have more serious penalty, everyone can't make an exception of it so people will obey the rules and try to don't make any mistakes.

    2. Do you think the problem now is with the police or with the judges and courts who do things like let the Red Bull heir, whom solid evidence suggests killed a police officer before seeking to pay a family servant to take the blame, walk free, whilst throwing others who have apparently done nothing that harmed anyone into prison without any option of bail for obviously not serious "crimes" that have harmed no one?

    3. I think we have problem with both. Corruption takes root deep in Thai society for so long. Even the current government looks strict, it's still a problem to some degree.
