Leaving your car on weekend

“We try not to get in the car all weekend” like Hovenman family is among a growing contingent of eco-minded and health conscious urban parents who are leaving there car keys at home and relying on a high-capacity cargo bike for family transportation. Cargo bikes initially catered to the "hard-core DIY”
crowd people who wanted to carry around really large objects like surf-boards or
big speaker or  kayaks.

Using bicycles  in daily life and even weekends can save energy and reduce global warming. We use vehicles that it burn large amounts of fuel. We should use bicycle instead of ous own  vehicles, it also save money and eco-friendly. At the same time, we get exerse and make us feet happy.

However it is not suitable in some countries such as Thailand because of the hot weather. Cyclists weak under sunlight.  The roads do not support cyclists because there are not bicycle lanes and many cars runing on the road are so dangerous. Now a days you may hear about cyclists getting hit by drunk drivers and careless drivers. In addition, drunk drivers cause damages to other vehicles and public asset like water pipes and electric posts.

To prevent accident, The Governor of Bangkok is trying to provide new protected bike lanes and improve existing ones for commuters and also encouraged cyclist to avoid main roads and to ride in public parks

  1. Por, do you have the link for this article?
I'm sure that the Bangkok Post has copied and pasted it from the New York Times, but I couldn't find the article in the Post. I wanted to check how the Post had cited its use of the NYT story. I'm sure that they did - there is often good writing in the Post copied from other sources, which is something small newspapers commonly do.

And over the last few years, the quality of the opinion articles has improved: even though I often disagree with the content, the writing is still strong. The general news articles do not seem to me so well written.

  4. I agree with you that using bicycle is good but in Thailand, it's very dangerous. I saw a lot of biker died from the car on the road because driver do not care about them , they drive fast as they can and I think this is the important thing for government to consider about transportation.

  5. Instead of driving a car, riding a bike is a good choice to save our environment; however, I think that it's not suitable for bangkokians. Not only it's dangerous for riders when the bike is on the road but the riding in Bangkok leads us to be a bad health since Bangkok is full of air pollution. However, nowadays many organizations hold the bike's campaign on weekend to be one ways to save the world. In the future, if our government encourage to build more bicycle's lanes, it may be possible for our city.
