Migrant Tragedy

The BBC news reported that Libya has criticised EU proposals to authorise the use of force against smugglers taking migrants across the Mediterranean to Europe. The EU has proposed to capture and destroy vessels before they are used by traffickers. The measure plans to stop migrants from drowning in the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, The Bangkok post reported that there was a Rohinya trafficking system in the south of Thailand by the Rohinya traffickes ' s boats. Those people were moved to a camp to wait to go to another country, but some of them died there.

There are a lot of migrants trying to go to other countries in several regions of the world via trafficing boats. They leaved their home and get on the small boats to cross the sea, but some of them die on the sea before arriving at the beach of an other country . It is very risky , but they choose to abamdon their land , seek a new homes, new land and new lives. These migrant are willing to take the risk Because if they stay home, they're also risking death and suffering. The Rohinya people were killed in Myanmar and the libyans will become refugees because there are wars in their countries. These refugees have avioded torture and they spend a lot of money to get a seat on the boat trying to smuggle then though other countries. In addition, they know that the potentail for success is low for this strategy.

In other words, Thailand is a peaceful country. There are no a wars or natural disasters. We just have drunk drivers who some times hit people crossing a road. If you walk on the road, it can be very dangerous “ walk on the road, if you dare”. We should keep our country peaceful and develop our future generation' s happiness. “WHY DON'T WE DO THESE THINGS?

  1. In the part, there are many migrants who try to move from China into Thailand and my grandfather is one of these people. Because of overpopulation and lack of resource that make people want to immigrate from their home. If this way make their lives easier and more comfortable, I think it is worth to abandon their home.

  2. I like the way that Por makes connections between his chosen BBC News article and the local situation in Thailand that has recently been reported in the Bangkok Post. This is what we do in academic work, and you are very welcome to play with it in your blogging.

I also like the concluding connection with drunk drivers, which is a most useful lead in to the new topic we will start tomorrow morning.

    Thank you Por.

  3. I'm trying to imagine how those people feel when they're on the boat in the middle of vast ocean. If I were them, I would feel hopeless and depressed. It's like waiting for death.

    1. yes, death, and suspecting that the rest of the world does not care, has no compassion, no understanding and no moral concern.

  4. If you pointed out the way of human being, both Rohingyas and Libyans are victims and they also should deserve something better.

On the other sides, both Rohingyas and Libyans should not emigrate to other countries because they are damaging economic system in those countries where they came in. Furthermore, they make people in those country jobless, and be a burden on the government in those country to support them such as health care, or education by using the tax from those country.

In my opinion, It sounds like selfishness but I can't accept this way. Nowadays, the world economic is facing a tough time, is interrupted, and the price of gas and petrol are increasing. It is not easily to deal with the world economic crisis.

If Rohingyas or Libyans were fought for themselves, made their life better, did not leave their hometown, and tried to adjust themselves in the circumstance, they would be accepted from their countries and they don't have to escape to everywhere.
It would be the best choice for Rohingyas and Libyans. Who knows!

  5. I wonder: is it true, as Por writes, that "Thailand is a peaceful country"? I think this might be a common misunderstanding. What does the evidence tell us?

Which country, for example, has a lower murder rate: Thailand or the US?

  6. 2-3 days ago, I have read and learned about refugees in many countries. The first thing I found that it's still a major problem for the countries that many organizations or the government concern and try to solve the problem; however, I think that immigration from a country is always not good for another country; for example, Thailand is facing Rohinya refugees. It is a top issue how to solve the problem. Some solutions is that sending the refugees back to Burma; on the other hand, if Thailand do that ways, it may lead conflictions soon.
