Ben's Academic Interests

My academic interest is Marketing. I have ever studied Principles of Marketing when I was studying at Thammasat University. It's very exciting to discuss with your colleagues in business topic and sharing your idea with them. Although It's just only one Marketing subject I have ever studied while I was studying there, It's the beginning that make me interested and passionate in Marketing. After my graduation, I began my career as a Sales executive at Thai Samsung Electronics. Working with Professional marketer at Samsung was great experience in my life.

  1. Great!! I believed you got some good experience from your work and are passionate in that subject. I could be a big leap if you go to study abroad.

  2. Your interest to marketing is awesome. Your experience at Samsung will benefit your future surely. Actually, I really like to talk about marketing even though I do not have so much background. If we have chances, I hope that we will discuss things relating to marketing together because I like to discuss with my colleagues too.

  3. I'm very fond of Samsung - their products work wonderfully well, and work with each other well. A couple of times I've also had to visit their service centre, and that is also not too unpleasant.

I can't say I'm particularly interested in marketing, but I like reading some work by behavioural economists. People like Dan Ariely are doing some great work at uncovering how human beings work, what actually motivates them and changes behaviour, including buying. And some of their research uncovers results that are not what you would expect. They certainly aren't what I would have expected.

    1. I'm just enjoying a latish morning coffee and getting in a couple of quick response comments with it.

I really want to write another response to a BBC News article, but that's a bit more demanding than something to do quickly whilst enjoying a coffee and browsing the news. If something in the news catches my eye, I'll respond a bit later.

    2. I've read one of Dan Ariely book. It's called The Upside of Irrationality. It's very interesting.

    3. Do you think we should read something by Dan Ariely as class reading?

  4. Your experience is very awesome. I can't even imagine myself walking in such a big company like Samsung.

In my opinion, the marketing isn't just a subject, it's an art.

  5. What an exciting experience ! Recently, I began to interest in marketing too. If I'm going to start some kind of businesses, coffee shop will be my first trying. The reason is because I love coffee, especially newly made coffee, although I can't tell you why this is related to opening an coffee shop.

    1. Me, too. I mean, I love the smell and taste of freshly make coffee, preferably twice a day. It goes very well with some quick response blogging or browsing the news. But sometimes I get carried away with the blogging or news, and return to a rather cold half-cup of coffee, which isn't as wonderful as it was when hot.

More worrying, I sometimes have to dash to work because some quick thing I was working on led to another quick thing and then another one. Fortunately, I only live a ten minute walk from Chamchuri Square.

    2. But I'm not drinking coffee now.
I'm doing a little preparation for class tomorrow morning, and since I'm sitting in front of my computer, I notice the new comments as they arrive.

    3. I love drinking coffee too! I had ever been a barista for 3 months at my friend's cafe. Although I can't pour latte arts, I can make a perfect shot and blend it well.
Don't forget to tell me when you are ready for openning your own shop :)

  6. I think Marketing is just like playing games. I wish someday I would go to business school maybe after graduation. But I don't think that I'm good at management or strategy planning. Perhaps I'll learn about it if I'll study in advertising. I can't wait for that.

  7. I am interested in marketing, when I have to research about my customer's product and similar ones existing in the market to come up with brand positioning, before designing work. It makes me fascinate with ones thinking and think marketing is an interesting field.
