P's Academic Interests

I studied in Thammasat University where is the best development oriented university in Thailand, There are many famous quote of Thammasat, for example, "we love thammasat because thammasat teach me to love people" and  "I want to gain a lots of thing from thammasat, not only a certificate". My major was public, politics and development economics. it was certainly related to orientation of Thammasat, so I proud to be a student there. However, when i was studying at economics faculty economics i realise that i didn't like mai stream economics (economics have 2 stream: main stream which believes in invisible hand and power of market, using mathemetic intensively, like financial economics and business economics, and secondary stream which believes that market, in fact, can not effectively work so government should intervene the market -- this stream do not use mathemetic intensively such as political economy and development economics).

  1. It' s a awesome. You tell a lot of your study so far. I enjoy to read that but I feel like you still do not introduce what your interest exactly. 2. P'ball actually, i want to say that i prefer secondary stream, particularly political economy and development economics, so in master degree, i, specially, want to learn about "development studies".

however, there is no development studies course in Thailand at all. it has made me feel really disappointed.

development studies is an integrated science using political science, economics, sociology, anthropology and many kinds of social science to answer the question about country development and to find the best resolution to nation problems, stuff like that.

i think development studies is more suitable for me rather than development economics because i believe that only economists' views are pretty narrow. in order to answer some question in social science we want broader view.

  3. Yes, I do agree with you that the broader view will be better than narrow one because we can see things more clearly. It’s obvious that if we can enlarge our perspective as well as integrate interdisciplinary fields, we get the better solutions to cope with problems. As you said, I believe that development study is promising and it will benefit our society so much. By the way, I hope that you will enjoy studying in "development study".

  4. Thx a lot kub p'ball. i hope so LOL
by the way, do you know about main stream economics theory?
main stream economics believes that all people are rational and they always are able to make a good decision, so people in main stream economics opinion are just like robots.
therefore, i think it obvious that "nowadays" we still are human right? so i prefer the secondary stream to the main one.

  5. Awesome! I love people who loves their college, institute. Your post remind me of ABAC, my college too. I have best friend who graduate from Thammasat University like you but she graduated from law school. Actually, I learned economics from high school and college but it's too hard from me. I accepted that economics will teach you about analyze include making decision in your life.
