In the past, people lived simply without technology. But
now, it seems to be the important factor that affect human life, and the
technology becomes a part of us. I can’t deny that a lot of people around
the world use technology, even the children do, and it is followed by the
problem.
According to “Computers can impact on Children’s ability to learn, says union”, the Association of Teacher and Lecturers is worried that
some children can’t concentrate to learn, and socialise suitably with other
students in school because they spend too much times on their digital games or
social media.
This article reminds me to think of my niece who is only 9 years old.
She has her own tablet, and brings them everywhere with her. She
always concentrate on her tablet while other people are taking to her. One
day, my cousin who is my niece's father asked me to pick up his daughter at school. I waited her in the
coffee shop, then she came into the shop with her
friends. After that, all of them picked up their own tablets, and they just paid attention on screen. There is only one sentence from my niece, just said “send
this video’s link to me now, I want to see it,” and they don’t have
conversation anymore.
Nowadays, the world is changed in the better way. The digital technology is more developed than in the past. It is
free for everyone to use. Because of this freedom, children can do
anything without controlled by their parents. It will be a big problem if they
play the games that have to fight each other to win. This kind of
games can make children think that it is not wrong to use violence solving any
problem. Moreover, I am worried that why their parents allow them to bring valuable
items, such as smartphone or tablet, to school, because they are still too
young. They might not have enough responsibility to take care of something well.

When I read On's summary, which is very good, of the article she chose to respond to, an unanswered question immediately occurred to me.
ReplyDeleteWhat did you think? Should we be as worried as the teachers' union is? Why or why not?
I think we should be worried, and more than the teacher's union if it's our children, or someone in our family.
DeleteI have read the article about how playing computer games effects children brain. It 'excites' children's brain constantly and give no time for it to rest, That's why children like playing computer games more than playing with real people. Moreover, this 'excite' effects children even after they stop playing. As a result, they'll have hard time to concentrate on something else, and it can be huge effect on learning process.
It is the matter that both parents and teachers should be concern. Parents should tell children what's good and what's bad, and regulate them, so the teacher can teach children effectively.
I was once gaming-addict in a last few years of high school. But when my mother told my that my computer game is just sets of computer code, when you turn it off, it's gone. It has definitely nothing to do with my future. And I was awake, like I just had my consciousness back, and started to think for my life. Thanks for my mother. If she didn't remind me of that truth, I might be a loser somewhere else now.
DeleteI like On's idea that "children can relax themselves by playing a game," but I'm not sure that I agree that parents should chose a game "that does not have violent content" (para. 6).
ReplyDeleteShould parents stop their kids from playing violent video games? Why or why not?
Oops.
DeleteI've just realized I made a mistake: my first sentence here should have been:
I like On's idea that "children can relax themselves by playing a game," but I'm not sure that I agree that parents should chose "a game that does not have violent content" (para. 6).
