Wolf in sheep's clothing

Will robots make our life easier or make it harder? Although robots can do many things, for example, robots produce more accurate and high quality work, it also can do something we couldn't imagine......something like killing. Imagine that one day you were killed by a robot.

Scientist are trying to make killer robots closer to reality.
According to 'Killer robots' to be debated at UN, Today, Autonomous killer robots do not currently exist, but many scientist are trying to make it closer to reality. It is the first time that killing robots will be the issue in the UN Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW).

A cyborg disguise in woman appearance
After i had read this news, i thought about a movie called The Terminators which is about a cyborg is sent from the future on an assassin mission. It has to kill a young woman whose life will have a important role in the future. In Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, a cyborg disguise in woman appearance. Although it is an innocent woman in the outside, in the inside it still be a killer robot, just like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Another example of killing robot in my opinion is a movie called I, robot. The movie mainly about robots that were created to follow rules. Although they were put program to obey human, some of them try to control itself and eliminate human.

Killer robots are fully autonomous weapon which can work without human intervention. I think everyone wants a robot. Police Bomb Squads want them to do dangerous tasks like defuse a bomb. Military want them to carry out many risky jobs that cannot be done by soldier. We ,who are ordinary people, want them to help doing house chores. Robots is important for our life, It depends on how you use them. Even terrorist can use robot to assassin someone. Today, killer robots do not currently exist, but if they do exist, our world will face an another huge problem. Although killer robots are not exist, killer drone which is an unmanned aerial vehicle do exist and it can be controlled by human in the station.

Advances in technology have made our lives pleasant and comfortable. People often debated whether technology is good or bad for children. We use it in almost everything in our daily life. It has replace things like books, tape, or flashlight. In globalization, we have smart phone, laptop, or tablet which help us in learning and playing. Technology is a double-edged sword. If we use technology the right ways, it can improve our grades. If we use it just to chat and play game, we will have poor grades. Technology does make our lives better, but it also can end our life if we use it wrong.

I think appearance of robots isn't important at all, it's what's on the inside that matters.

  1. It sounds great if one day, we have own robot to follow our command, I don't need to do any housework and I will have a convenient life. But everything has two sides! If robots are ordered to kill people, we will face the enormous problem because killer robots don't have conscience like human, if they are built to kill, they will kill without consideration and kindness. Sometimes, when I saw some movies about robot war, I think that what should I do if this situation happens in my life.

  2. Oh no! If a killer robot takes orders from a bad guy, it will be a nightmare. Robots are not easily taken down. How can human fight with them?

By the way, no matter what you said, I prefer good looking robots than ugly moving machines.

  3. I like both films that Bank cites. The Terminator films were great fun. In fact, I have them all on DVD and occasionally watch them again - it's hard to believe that they began in 1984. I think that the first and second were the best.

I'm also a fan of Will Smith, and I, Robot is another film I like to watch again. In fact, I think it's better than the Terminator films. It doesn't have quite as much action or impressive special effects, although it's not lacking in either, but it also explores some more serious questions more so than the less credible Terminator films.

For example, one theme explored in I, Robot intersects with Law's essay: what it is to be a person. Is Sonny the robot also a person? If so, what makes him (it) a person? And then the moral question: if Sonny is indeed a person, does he also have (human) rights that must be respected?

But it seems to me that there is a much deeper moral question explored in I, Robot. This is same moral argument that leads to people being forced by governments to wear seatbelts in cars, to being forbidden to smoke cigarettes in restaurants, and to making some (but not the most dangerous) popular drugs of addiction illegal. If we think the reasoning of VIKI, the robot leader, is wrong, mustn't all the similar interference by governments in the personal lives of citizens also be wrong for the same reasons?

  4. I agree with you that it reminds me a movie "The Terminators". Everything always has two sides but it depends on you. What side do you use technologies? good side or bad side?

  5. Terminator is one of my favorite movies, and I loves I-Robot too. In my opinion, having robots has more props than cons. Like you said, they can do dangerous work for us, reducing the risks of losing our man lives. It's like a double-edged sword, the great and evil all depends on the user.

  6. I think before using smart mechines, all of them should be proved that can be under control, safe, and effective however it depends on users' purpose to use them as well. In my field of design working, many ideas also come from my thought and sketching, but i use technological device to support my working process.
