Naming disputes

Today our South East Asian friends -Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines and Brunei- along with Two Chinas are arguing among themselves that who has a rightful sovereignty over the South China Sea , yet the Vietnamese won't call it South China Sea but "East sea" instead. Today in Vietnam, anti-China protest is on a big surge as BBC News said.

According to Vietnam protesters attack China over sea dispute  Vietnamese activists, including War Veterans,  organizes a protest which is uncommon in this communist nation in front of Chinese Embassy in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, after an incident near the oil rig in the disputed territory in the South China Sea. The protest seem approved by the government because previous protests was cracked down by the authorities in the fear of being hijacked by anti-Communist party's rule activists.
Territory disputes, the situation when two or more states claiming one territory,  is not uncommon . Thailand have many with Cambodia. The most famous is Prasart Phra Viharn (my romanization maybe incorrect ). India and Pakistan both claim Kashmir. The newest one, Russia and Ukraine claim Crimea after Crimea decide to leave Ukraine and join the Russia Federation. The biggest Territory dispute is territory dispute over "China" which is claimed by People's Republic of China and Republic of China that based on Taiwan. Most of States in the world, including Thailand,  recognize  Red China's claim and say Republic of China didn't exist since 1949 but technically Republic of China still  see People's Republic of China as a communist rebel that illegally occupied  the mainland.
But those cases still didn't strange enough. There are case that involved name calling dispute such as this cases the South China Sea disputes. Most of the world along with Two Chinas call this sea "South China Sea" but Vietnam call it "East Sea" to avoid saying "China" which mean recognize China's claim. The Filipinos call South China Sea that under their claim as "Luzon Sea" to avoid  recognize Chinese claim. Other case is naming dispute of "Sea of Japan" which Two Koreas call it "East Sea" to denies Japanese claim on Laincourt Rocks which is named "Dok-do" in Korean and "Takeshima" in Japanese.
I think map makers should retain "South China Sea" in its same name because the name of the had been used widely and it's alternative name "East Sea" is not geographically specific. Australian may call Coral Sea their "East Sea" , also Korean also has their East Sea. For Sea of Japan, I can suggest "Tumen Sea" or  "Sea of Tumen "as an alternative names but I think "Sea of Japan" should be retain because it is still geographically specific and widely used, unlike Koreans alternative "East Sea".
