Issues in the news - groups 1 & 2

This is the second part of exercise 1 in chapter 2 of Writing Research Papers (Zemach, Broudy & Valvona, 2011, p. 8).
We all read, watch or hear news every day. It is not surprising that that news discusses issues that are important to many people. In other words, the news tends to talk about topics that matter to people, although not every topic is equally important to everyone, nor are all of the issues that do make the news of equal importance.

  • What important issues have you read about or heard on the news recently?
    • Why are they important?
    • To whom are they important? To whom should they be important?
    • Who? When? Where? What? How? (These are just some prompts to help you get ideas for your comments.)
    • Does your initial idea suggest broader or narrower issues?

First, think of one issue you have seen or heard discussed in the news recently. In a new comment, tell us what the issue is, and why you think it is important. Should we also think it is important? Then publish your comment.
Repeat this to write two more comments on issues that you have seen talked about in the news recently.

A modern issue: meals to kill for - group 2

A modern issue that is important to some people is whether or not we human beings should be eating meat. Some people think that we should be vegetarian, and not kill other animals to feed ourselves. Others think that there is nothing wrong in enjoying meat from animals we have killed for that purpose.

That this modern issue is controversial can be seen, for example, within Buddhism: some groups of Buddhists believe that meat should not normally, or ever, be eaten, whilst others disagree, saying that eating meat is normally acceptable.

At least one side on this controversy must be wrong. And since their views appear to be not merely contrary but contradictory, at least one side must also be right.

  • What do you think? Who is right and who is wrong?
  • Is it morally acceptable to eat meat? And since there is a real controversy here, you will need some supporting reasons for your answer, so why or why not?

A modern issue: crime and punishment - group 1

Our society regularly punishes people. If people do something that is against the law, they are punished in various ways. If a person does something that a majority disapprove of, she might be punished by the majority, for example by being stoned to death for marrying a man her family disapproves of. If a child angers his parents, they might respond with punishment.

Some questions that come to mind on this modern issue that concerns many include:
  • When and why is punishment acceptable?
  • What punishments are effective? And ineffective?
  • What sorts of punishments are appropriate? What are inappropriate punishments?
  • Most important:
Must we punish? Why should we punish? I mean, what should the purposes of punishment be? And what should they not be?
In a comment, respond with your ideas to the following:
For example, imagine someone has committed a murder, or a few murders.
  • Should that person be punished?
  • How and why should the murderer be punished? How not and why not?

Minfa's creative Process: Selecting an apartment for international students

Apartment selection is a fun process. Most international students need to find a residence before beginning school. First, I brainstorm ideas about where to find an apartment information such as websites, people staying around my school, and books. Moreover,  I make a list of my requirement for my dream apartment like not expensive, furnished, close to my school, and secure.

Next, I choose the resources to find apartments and organize the apartments by making a list. I take out apartments not according to my requirement and star the interesting apartments. In addition, I use the internet to search picture and location of the interesting apartments and get rid of ones that I do not like it by some reason such as looking old.

To draft my attractive apartments, I create a table with following subjects: name of apartment, rent, furniture, distance from school, and security. This makes me easier to see the advantages and disadvantages for each apartment.

After finishing creation the table, I review the interesting apartments by comparing apartments in the table and ranking the best apartments for me.

I revise my apartment ranking by changing some orders. Some people living there may give me new information or some comments that benefits for new ranking apartments.

Finally, I am ready to publish my best apartment. That is I find the apartment that I would like to read a lease before making a decision to rent it.

Eve's Creative Process : Making birthday card.

I'm planing to surprise my mother by doing a hand-made birthday card, her birthday is on this upcoming saturday. At first, I brainstorming idea how to design her card. For example, I could use various materails such as canvas, glass, wood etc. instead of plain paperto create it, this will make it more intersting and impressing.
After deciding which material I'm going to use, I start organize the tools and other decoration things: canvas, oil colors, painting bursh, pen, pencil , littlet dried flowers and , the most important, a picture of me and my mom.
I begin drafting my card by painting canvas background with my mother favourite color and then I attach a a picture of me and my mon in the middle of the canvas fullfil with little dried flowers.
I review my card by hanging it on the wall and where I can see the whole card.
Before putting it in to the gift box, I revising it a little bit by adding a sweet blessing behin the canvas.
Lastly, I just wait until saturday to publish my card to the whole family.

Mylk's Creative Process : singing a song on stage!

It was a long time ago that I had a chance to sing on stage. I love singing especially with the live band. It was so good to be the centre of everyone and at the same time shared with them. If I can lead the band and do the performance on stage again, I will have to brainstorm so as to make the best performance as if it would be the last and only show of my entire life.

Firstly, I will think about the quantity and the desirable types of songs. Audiences will get easily bored if the singer sings too many songs or sing only the same kind of songs. Singing three slow songs in a row can even make them sleep! The target group of audiences is also a crucial factor. Singing rock or hip hop songs might be a calamity if the audiences are old. This is how i brainstorm and gather all factors to be taken into account before organizing a show.

Then, the order of the songs can also be another kind of communication. After i choose a few desirable songs, such as easy-listening songs or pop songs, I will consider what songs should be sung first. If the sad song is the last song of the show, it might make the audience sorrowful instead of being impressed.
I organize to sing the slowest song first, mostly sad songs, the medium-tempo one and the fastest-tempo one respectively. I believe it will gradually drives the listeners to have fun and funnier and they might even stand up to dance with me in the last song.

Next, I will draft the process by rehearsals. I will prepare a short piece of speech to bring them to the songs. I will do a mock up on my own or to friends to get their comments, including on singing and doing body language. Then I will record it to see the whole show and find a room for improvement.

I will watch the video forward and backward to review and revise it. I'm evident that I may have a problem with a body language as I have not sung for too long. It might look awfully awkward. However, it's an important complement of the songs. Doing the right facial expression, gestures, eye contacts naturally will make the show smooth and impressive. Additionally, the stress of each word will be another thing that I will check. It helps make the feeling of the song clearer if the singer make a right stress.

Last, after i gather all the important factors to make a good show and also practice singing a lot of times. It's time to sing on stage and make the best performance as planned.

Oat's Creative Process

How to Create a Study Plan
First, I brainstorm ideas a study plan for example, what I will study, how long the duration is, which materials I will use.

Then, I organize my ideas by crossing unnecessary subjects, books, or material. After that, I put the similar things together so that I can recognize the connection among them more easily.

To draft my study plan, I make a time table and write down my tentative plan on it.

I review my plan by checking whether anything is missing or not. Moreover, I judge whether my plan is an appropriate plan.

I revise my plan by making a few changes. If I find that I have to study two or three hard subjects in the same day, I will try to split them.

Finally, I am ready to publish my study plan. However, it is hard to apply ideas into practice. I often get off track and I never follow my study plans.

May's Creative Process: Hunting for a nice meal on weekend!

It is undeniable that food is one of an important things in our lives. For me, after a tough week of working or studying, having good and tasty food can help reduce my stress and make me feel ready for the next Monday.

When I crave for a nice meal, the first thing I'll do is brainstorming. In this step, I gather the information about the types of food I would like to try, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, or others.

After brainstorming, it's time to organize. I organize my ideas by choosing one type of food I really want to have, the one that can make my weekend be a wonderful one. I also seek for a restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere, and find some travelling information, how can I get there, driving or just catching the bts.

When I finish organizing my meal ideas, it's time to draft my meal hunting plan. I start my draft by making a schedule. I will meet my friends around 12.30 pm at Sukhumvit. Then we will move to the restaurant named 'Chu' at the Exchange Tower. At the restaurant, we will order egg benedicts and pancakes. We may have another dessert, brownies or ice cream, if we want to.

After drafting the plan, I need to review and revise it in order to make a flawless plan. Perfect plan means I will be able to hunt for a perfect meal on my weekend. In revising, I make some changes to my plan. I change the time from 12.30 pm to 12.00 pm because I think that I will be way too hungry if I have to wait until 12.30 pm. However, if my friends don't want to have dessert, I will never make any changes to this part of plan. On the contrary, I will try my best to convince them to order at least one dish of it.

Finally, I come to the last step, publishing! To publish means to
go to the restaurant and have my favorite food with my favorite friends. My mission to hunt for a nice meal on weekend already complete! How can my life be better than this?

ICE's Creative Process: Learning to play a new song

I brainstorm my feelings to pick the song I would like to play at that time. Then, I search the internet looking for websites which offer free songs first, but if it does not exist in these websites I will go to buy sheet music from bookstores and paid websites.

After I pick the song I like, I will organize the place to play. Sometimes I am very excited to play that song, so  I won't set anything ready; where to sit and which guitar to use. Next, I will looking through the song to find how many pages it has, the musical symbols and signs, the metronome rate, does it have chords or tabs together with notes? etc.

Then I draft it by playing from the beginning to the end of the song without worrying about the pace and smoothness. I try to play every notes as possible. Sometimes I skip some parts of the song because I guess it would be really difficult and will discourage me to end the song for first attempt.

To review after I get used to the song, its sound and message, I will look at the difficult parts which took me long time to learn and begin to play it again.

To revise, I will practice those difficult parts for several times to smooth them and modify a song a bit to serve my desire. I cut some notes or even the whole parts which I don't like and link the exist notes together as I want. It is actually a bad style of learning to follow (I do even cut the classical song). And the most important step is to practice it again and again.

Finally, enjoy the song!

Té's Creative process: Planning to win DotA

DotA (Defense of the Ancient) is one of the most famous game in Thailand. It is a game where 5 person team up against another team of 5. The objective in winning this game is destroy the enemy towers and bases. Each player will be given a character from more than 100 characters for achieving a victory. So the strategy must be made before everyone choose a character in order to combine each character's ability and utilize it to the fullest.

First, we have to brainstorm the characters for countering another team's potential characters. For instance, if we see a lot of late game character, we might want to choose an early game character for shutting down those late game player. Then we organize those interesting hero which has synergies altogether. This step is very crucial because if you only want to counter another team character, you may not do well in team fight because each player can't help each other really well.

Next is drafting a team, in this process we have to do it while banning some of the character which may jeopardizing your plan. This step is also dangerous, while you are banning their character you can also get banned so when we do the banning we might have to hide our intention in some extent.

After our game finished, we have to review our plan by watching the game replays. Sometimes our plan work and we have to find out why? It is also the same when we lost, we have to find the reasons for it. Then revising our plan by changing the characters or the formation when we engaging the enemies or maybe changing the style for example prolonging the game instead of rushing it. This will give our late game character time to get strong enough to take down the enemies.

Finally we publish our plan by using it in ranking matches against another pro/amateur player in the tournament.

Paeng's Creative Process: getting ready to Yellowstone

'I love travelling' was simply what I could say about myself when someone asked me about thing I am attracted to. However, that was a rough answer and I always wanted to be more specific about my answer on where I would love to travel to. Luckily, this didn't take me so long to find out that I love travelling to national park. The story began two years ago when I went to the U.S. as an exchange student. During my semester there, I had a great chance to live and study with local American as well as international students. We usually spent our holiday together and there was one time that we planned a road trip to Yellowstone National Park. The following will show you how we did our fantastic trip!

First, we brainstorm ideas about the route and where we would like to visit during the way to Yellowstone. It was a long trip and we definitely needed to take a break. We had to list what we need for our trip ranging from food, proper clothes, medicine and type of car. We also shared the ideas about what we want to do in Yellowstone such as hiking, sightseeing or photographing animals. In addition, there were some people concerned about the grizzly bear in Yellowstone. As a result, many bad scenarios related to wild animals had been discussed among us as well.

Secondly, since our group is big (around 20 people) we had to organize our people and stuffs. Each group had to design the amount of stuffs with theirs number of people. At this point, each group might want to organize its activities at Yellowstone as long as it fit to the schedule of the whole group.

Thirdly, to draft our trip, each group assigned responsibilities and made sure that everyone knew about the details of the trip. After spreading the draft, each person will complete his/her job such as buying food, preparing medicine and printing the road route. We also required that everyone had to have a small piece of paper stating the schedule of the trip and contact person of each group.

Then, everyone in the group reviewed the trip's schedule and checked stuffs needed. The funny part was that we even reviewed the strategy of what we have to do when we face the grizzly bear as well. No kidding.

After that, everyone revised the schedule and made change if s/he would like to. Each group would also check the other groups' schedule in case the member might want to change anything or add or take out some stuffs.

Last but not least, it's a time for publishing! We were more than ready to travel to Yellowstone! We put lots of effort on planning this trip and it's time to make it happen. And we did! We all had an awesome time in Yellowstone. I could say that the night sky there has paid everything off for me. It's really an experience of my life time.

Karn's Creative Process: Playing Left4Dead with strategies

I love playing computer games, especially first-person shooting games. Left4Dead is one of the best game I have ever played. I played it quite often when I was studying in Chulalongkorn University. It is the story of four survivors in zombie apocalypse. To accomplish missions in the game and keep all characters survive, four players must unite as a team to create the best strategies.

First, after we choose a chapter to play, we need to brainstorm about our strategies and tactics which could be work for that chapter. For example, if we choose swamp chapter, we should avoid walking through swamp, because it can slow us down and the different depths in the swamp might make our firing inaccurate.

When we come up with all ideas for this chapter, the next thing to do is organizing them. We start with choosing only some strategies that all members agree because lot of strategies may pop up from brainstorming but we cannot do them all. There are four missions in one chapter, and each mission requires different strategies. Therefore, we also need to put the right strategies on the right mission.

Drafting is when we open the game and play it for the first time. We might not do well and some tactics might not work. We might fail, but it is OK. It is a draft, so it can't be perfect. When we finish the first draft, we will review what happen in the game to see if the strategies we have selected are really useful or not.

Then we will revise our strategies by cutting some strategies off and adding some strategies. After that, we will go back to the drafting step again, followed by reviewing and revising.

We keep playing until we have all strategies we really need. These strategies lead to our success in the game. We will be able to complete all missions and survive until the end of the chapter. Now it's time to publish our success by showing our scores and the ending credit to other friends.

Jig's Creative Process: Family trip in California

In this coming August, my family will have a trip to California shortly before my class starts in the fall.

First, we needed to brainstorm about how long we could be for this trip and where we would like to visit. Since my parents have limit holiday leaves, we have decided to be there for two weeks. Then we discussed all cities we want to visit around California: Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego. After that I needed to find out all interesting places in each city.

Then, I organized all places we will go in order so that I could plan further details such as where to stay, how to transport to each place, who I should contact in advance, and how much expenses are. When I got all lists of those information, I was ready to draft my family's trip.

To draft the trip, I did it in excel by separating data into five columns: date, cities we will go, transportations we will use, places we will stay, and activities we will do. When I finished my first draft, I showed the plan to my family and then we reviewed it together.

After reviewing the draft with my parents, I had to revise the trip by changing some places we will go such as I needed to cancel visiting universal studio because my parents do not want to go there and insert going to the Thai town instead.

Finally, our trip is completed and ready to publish by going to visit california in August.

Job's Creative Process: Getting Fit

A: You know what, I think that people who regularly do exercise are very charming.
B: Why?
A: At least, they know how to love themselves.

I heard this conversation from my friends long time ago and it really hooked me. So I have started exercise since that time. I can say that if you also want to be fit and healthy, doing exercise is not only just going to gym or doing physical activities, but it also is a process that sometime need a bit more creativity. This process happens to me every week.

At the beginning of every week, I need to brainstorm about what exercises should be. There are four types of exercise - endurance, strength, balance and flexibility. What exercises I should do for each type? For endurance,  should it be running, swimming or biking. For strength, should it be weight lifting or body weight training. For balance, should it be heel-to-toe walk or Tai Chi. For flexibility, should it be shoulder and upper arm stretch or Yoga.

Next, I organise my plan for the week. Because resting is as important as exercising, our body need to rest and I do not have that much time to do workouts everyday. So which days are exercising days? Which days should be resting days? And what is the details for each of the decided days? For example, I need to do exercises four times a week. Then I will leave a break day between day two and day three. The example for this example would be working out on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Everything need to be balance. So at the first day, I do swimming. At the second day and the fourth day, I do weight lifting. And for the third day, I can do Tai Chi.

My drafting is to try following the plan for the whole week.

At the end of the week, I am going to review all the things that happened. What is my feeling? Does the plan work? If I like Tai Chi is not fit me anymore, then I can change it to Yoga in the following week.

Lastly, I need to follow the plan. It needs time, maybe a lot of time before I can have a publication. When I can smile at a mirror with pleasure, it means the time has come. So that I can enjoy my life more and more.

Puppub's Creative Process: Creating a spending plan

When I was young, my mother always tell me to keep track of how I use my money by making a spending plan. I didn't like doing that because I thought it was just a waste of time. But now I realize that it is very useful indeed.

There are a lot of ways to create a spending plan, so I brainstorm my ideas about creating the most suitable spending plan, what should I considered as my goal in creating it and how can I made it more concrete. For example, if I want to buy something expensive this month I might plan to reduce my spending, use my saving or find a part-time job and earn more money.

After that, I organize my ideas of how to make my spending plan seems most effective. I decided that I am going to focus on saving money so my spending plan will involve spending less money in order to save more.

The next step is drafting my awesome spending plan on paper to see whether it is a concrete plan or not.

By reviewing my plan I can check on things that can be improved. After that it's revision time. I made some changes to the things I don't like about my plan. I even draw some cartoons on it to make it more appealing.

Finally, I publish my work by using the spending plan myself and sending the result to my mother every month. This idea of creating a spending plan helped me a lot. It assists me in managing my money more wisely.

Wai's Creative Process: Selling Stock Photos

Taking photographs is my all-time favorite activity.  One day after exploring several photo albums in my computer, I got an idea to make those photos, and also a lot more photos I’ll take in the future, more productive by selling them in stock photo market.  If you don’t get used to the word ‘stock photography’, I’ll briefly tell you that it is a supply of photographs for specific uses and you can reach stock market online.  By reaching my goal, it has such a creative process to do with.

First, I brainstorm ideas about what kind of photos that is in demand of the market right now.  For example, in holiday like Christmas, photos that people want to buy the most are always a fir tree, a snowflake, Santa Clause, reindeer, pine cone, or even a ribbon.  I’ll think about what is in need for most people and plan to take that kind of photo.

Then, I organize my photographs.  First, it has something to do with the device.  Only one fine camera is okay but I prefer using the DSLR camera in order to get high-definition photos.  I check the lens and the body of the camera to be sure everything is in the right condition and is ready for use.  Then going out and taking photos is the next step.  I try to keep focusing on the theme of the photos. And finally here they are, the photos that are ready to be retouched.

Drafting is the next step, I upload my photos to the computer and retouch them with photo editor programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Photoscape.  This step takes quite a long time but it also the most important part because the more your photos look beautiful, the more you have a chance to sell them.

I review my photos by re-checking which one is good enough to upload to the online market and which one is not.  If I find any edited photo that is quite okay but still has a flaw in some point, I’ll go back to its original version and re-editing that photo until it is ready to prove its quality in the final round!

In order to sell the photos, everyone has to have a test by uploading some of their best photos to the market committee- to prove that their photos are good enough for selling.  If you fail, you’ll have a chance to have a test again in a few days and the committee will guide you why each of your photos is rejected.  I use the committee’s advice to revise my photography.  I learn from mistakes, improve the photos, send them again, if fail again then revise again, until I pass.  I was finally approved as a market contributor.

After I was promoted as a contributor, the last thing to do with selling photos is to upload and publish my photos- as much as I would like to- to the market.  I then add caption and keywords to those photos, then waiting for someone to buy them online.  Everytime the customers buy my photo, I’ll get the market share which means I’ll get the money from the photos I took.  That’s the way I can combine my favorite hobby and my job into one activity.

WIN's Creative Process : Let it grow !

Last week, I watched a video from YouTube. This video fascinated me regarding the planting of vegetable such as cabbage or lettuce by using extraordinary method- Hydroponic. I am very excited because this innovation can be help me to survive when I live in an area which has a high living cost such as California.

To start my activity, I brainstorm many ideas about where should I get equipment or what equipment should I prepare? After that, I organize all equipment that I need to grow the plant such as pipe, chemical nutrition, plant’s seed and a small area for plant it. My friend, Art, suggests that I should by this equipment from Jutujak market for decrease a cost.

To draft my little hydroponic garden, I start all the steps from a new protocol which I search in Google. They are many steps to complete but it is not a problem because all of steps are very easy. 2 weeks ago, I review my little sprout by look at their leaves. Some plants show a chlorosis condition which means insufficient in food. That leads me to revise my hydroponic garden by add more fertilizer and water in the pipe which plants rooted. Eventually, I publish my vegetable by consuming them and selling them to my neighbor.

Bow's Creative Process : playing a clarinet

In high school, I played in the school's band as the part of woodwind section that is a clarinet. At first time, I wanted to play a flute but I played better with the clarinet and then, I like it very much.

First, I think about what is should be included to play clarinet, each part of clarinet, the handbook about the clarinet, the music sheet, the basic knowledge about music and so on. For me, that is enough because I have some basic from the past with the keyboard.

And, I organize which one should study first. I begin with reviewing some basic knowledge about the music and the handbook about the clarinet to restart myself. Then, how to connect each part of clarinet. Lastly, study the music sheet to get the main idea of the song.

To draft for playing the clarinet is to warm up and sight read the song so, I will find that which part is the problem for me.

Since I know the part which I cannot play, I need to revise it by practicing more and get some help from the expert.

Finally, I will be ready to play the clarinet the whole song to the other professionally. It will entertain the people who hear my song.

Pear's Creative Process: wearing sweet make up look for dating

Make up is one thing I have to do before going out every day so I love buying cosmetics. Now I have a lot of cosmetics stuffs. I love to create my make up in various styles. If I have dating with handsome guy so I have to prepare myself for dating. I already have a sweet dress. Therefore I need wearing sweet make up to make me have more confidence.
First, I brainstorm ideas about how to wear sweet make up. For example, I could use a flawless foundation, or wear a pink lipstick, or apply false eyelash, or use a soft color contact lens for my eye.

Then, I organize the cosmetics and tools I need to wearing sweet make up look: lipstick, brush on, eyeliner, eyeshadow, foundation, powder, mascara, and false eyelash.

To draft my make up look, I apply the foundation and powder on my face using brushes, and then put soft pink eyeshadow on eyelid. Next, draw eyeliner as close to the waterline and put mascara on my eyelash. Brush my cheek with brush on. The final step is wearing a liptick on my lip.

I review my make up look by look at the mirror in the natural light.

I revise my make up look by apply false eyelash on my eye it make my eye getting bigger. If my lip color that get too pigment color, I remove it by tissue paper.

Finally, I am ready to publish my sweet make up look. I wearing sweet make up look for my dating. I hope my make up stunning and impressive.

A's Creative Process: travelling plan to NYC

If someone ask me about the place that I would like to visit the most, my answer without hesitation will definitely be New York City (NYC). In early August, I am leaving for USA. I will stay there for at least 4 years. I think the period before the academic semester which is around 3-4 days is the perfect time for me to go there and I will plan a trip in a creative way.

First of all, I have to brainstorm ideas about how to go to NYC. That could be by bus, train or plane. Moreover, I should search in the website and make a list of interesting places that I could possibly visit, i.e. the central park, the Statue of Liberty, the Metropolitan museum, Times Square, etc. A friend of mine who have ever visited NYC before also suggested me that I should not miss Broadway and I should include it in my list too.

Then, since there are a lot of interesting places and I have limited time to visit, I have to well organize my travelling plan. For example, I might have to cross out some places where I think it is located very far and less important. My budget is also the factor for my consideration. Since the ticket price of Broadway is very expensive, I might possibly discard it from my list too.

Regarding drafting my travel plan, I search for more information of all activities I planned to visit and try to set the time schedule on that.

After that, I should review it by considering whether some activities could be possible. For some activities, I might make a reservation on-line in advance in order to ensure the availability. In case some activities are not possible, I can revise my travel plan too.

Finally, publication is the day I am on the way to NYC. I hope it will be one of the best trips in my life because I have planned it very wisely and creatively

Ou's creative process: Packing luggage for US trip

First of all, I need to brainstorm about what things that are useful because the check-in bag's weight is limited. To get all of which, I have to try to simulate the everyday's activities in my brain and write it out on what I will use during living in the US. For example, I try to think that when I wake up the first thing that I have to do is taking a shower. So, small soap and shampoo, toothbrush and shave blade are the first things that I should not forget.
After list all of things that are necessary, I organize how to pack them all in my luggage. In general, people always have only one of check-in luggage because it is difficult to carry more than one of it to the apartment of the airport. So, organizing is definitely help me to put all important listed things into one luggage.
Then, it is time to do, I group the related things such as shower objects including soap, shampoo and toothbrush together and put them all in the a smaller bag before setting it down into the luggage.
When all of things is putted in the luggage, I review to make sure that I do not forget important thing especially the university credentials, passport, health-checked from.
I revise it again. if it still has some space and the weight is not over the limit, I possibly put some objects such as instant noodle.
Finally, my luggage is now published. I send it to wrap service and then, give it to agent a check-in counter. I get in the plan without worrying and ready to experience the life in US.

Chompoo Adiyada's Creative Process: Writing Thai Lyrics for an English Song

I love reading translated novels and comparing them to the original English versions. Mostly, I am fascinated by the competence of the translators who keep the original meaning together with the author's voice and also make the translated work sound natural, smooth and beautiful in the Thai language. Trying to immitate these artists, I usually translate a short story when I have free time. One day I came up with an idea to translate a song, which would be more challenging as we had to considerate further about the rhymes and melodies. I have done several translations of my favorite English songs, which sound not too bad, by following these steps.

First, I brainstorm ideas that the song I've chosen is talking about. For example, the song is about a person who is unsuccessful at work. He feels sad for it. However, he is optimistic about the future and has a strong will to keep trying. This song is a mixture of opposite feelings and I have to bear this in mind.

Then, I organize the feelings appearing in the song by, for example, what kind of language I should use(formal/spoken/literary), deciding in what order to put them in and how strong each feeling should be emphasized. All of this must hold the original sense.

After that it's drafting. I take notes of the numbers of wordseach line needs, in order to put translated lyrics with the same length there. I start translating and make the rhyms where they should be.

I review my translated lyrics by checking if it keeps original meaning and fit in rhymes and the numbers of words required.

In revising step, I sing my translated song and make some changes where the words don't fit with tempo, or pitch. Where the note is prolonged, I shouldn't put a short-sounded word. A high pitch note shouldn't be accompanied by a low-sounded word. Or eles, it would sound very weird or has a different meaning as many Thai vocaburaries are differentiate by their pitches. By making some changes, I usually reconsider paraphrasing my lyrics. It's because I normally say the same thing with different words.

Finally, I can publish my song, but usually chose not to do so until I find a good singer or I can sing it myself beautifully, which has never happedned before. I think my translation skills are getting better and I hope so will my singing.

Art's Creative Process: Writing Legal Advice

Last year after graduating from law school, I decided to work at a local law firm as a junior lawyer. One of the main responsibilities of lawyer is to write a memorandum -- or legal advice -- for clients. Writing legal advice emcompasses several steps, similar to writing normal essay. Let me break down all the steps for you as below:

First off, when our partner or supervisor assigns a case to any team of lawyers, then such team has to discuss the case so that every lawyer mutually understands the fact. Once agreeing on the fact, we have to brainstorm to determine the issues and all laws relevant to the case.

After having identified the issues and all related laws, it is time to organize all the ideas, apply the laws to the issues to find out how the solution of the case should be. Gathered all the solutions, an assigned lawyer will try to draft memorandum. After finishing the draft, he/she has to submit the draft to the supervisor/boss for review. Should there be any mistakes, the supervisor will send back the draft with comment and feedback. Then, the lawyer has to revise the memorandum as advised by supervisor.
Once the final draft (revised version of memorandum) has been approved, it's time to publish the legal advice and present it to the client via email, document or even phone call.

Prae's Creative Process: One Day Trip with Family

Because my birthday is coming, my family and I plan to have a day trip in the next weekend. Moreover, this is the opportunity for all members in my family will meet together.

To have a day trip with my family, the first thing I do is brainstorming ideas where we want to visit, what kind of places we want to go such as the beach and the mountain, and how far it should take. For example, the place that we visit could be Hua Hin, Amphawa, or Pattaya that is not far from Bangkok because we have only one day.

Then, I organize the trips where we should stop in a single day: Hua Hin beach, the 4D Art Museum, the restaurant and the shopping places.

The next thing is that I draft a plan in a paper where we should visit first and later including all details. For example, we should leave our home around 8 a.m., visit 4D Art Museum before noon, have lunch at the restaurant in Hua Hin and head to beach in the afternoon.

Reviewing the plan with my family is the next thing I do.

I revise the plan by switching some places or changing if it is not suitable or too far.

Finally, the plan is publishing. My family and I could enjoy and have a memorable time together.

mOOk's creative process: Jogging on Sunday

Seeing myself in the mirror everyday is the cause I have decided to give myself an exercise. And jogging is one of the best exercises. It needs only a pair of shoes. We don’t have to care much about the place. Moreover, it improves heart’s function. In order to go jogging, there are a few steps to follow.
First of all, I have to brainstorm ideas about the necessary factors such as the distance, the waking time, and the clothes. Later, I organize what to wear. I choose a T-shirt, a shorts, and a sneakers. About the distance, I want to try of 5 kilometers for the first time. And I will wake up at six o’clock in the morning.
After I set up my plan, it is time to draft my exercise. I follow what I have arranged. On Sunday, I get up at 6 am and walk the nearest park. I start jogging on 6:30. After that, I stretch my body and cool down. When I reach my home, I begin to review my jogging. I feel that it is too late to start jogging at that time since the heat from the sun grows so strong. Next, I am completely exhausted after the run. May 5 km. is a bit too much for my beginning. Besides, my feet get pain as I has a misstep.
Therefore, I revise my exercise by getting up earlier about 30 minutes and I wear running shoes. I also reduce the distance to 3 kilometers. Lastly, I publish my new exercise plan on the next Sunday and it goes well. The weather is not so hot. I don’t feel any pain on my feet. And the amount of exercise extremely fits me. I could enjoy a beautiful Sunday morning more than I have ever done before.

Aim's Creative Process: preparing to take landscape photographs on next trip

My favourite hobby is taking landscape photography because I love travelling natural places like hiking mountain. When I have time, I usually go to national park in Thailand or another countries for seeing beautiful landscape view. In next vacation, I should create a place where I will go to take a photograph.

Firstly, I brainstorm ideas about what places that I have never been there. I could choose national parks in Thailand because it is easier to travel than another countries. I select them by searching pictures on famous photographers' website. So I list the places on paper at least five places.

Then, I organize landscape views and highlight the most three national parks that I really want to go there and select the only one place. Therefore, I pick Chiang Dao National Park because it locate on Chiangmai province that has nice weather and lovely people. There are a lot of fantastic view and the highest peak of Chiang Dao National park is cover by fog. On the top of the mountain, I can take some photos of a sea of fog. There are also pictures on the internet and it is easy to learn how to take photos. For example, I can learn how to use some technique on camera when I go Chiang Dao National Park.

The next step is to draft my plan about what I have to prepare my camera, tripod, lens and memory cards. Some devices that I have to be useful for taking landscape photographs. I also learn and ask for advices from photographers who have been to Chiang Dao National Park. . Moreover, I have to see many pictures from there.

Next, I review my instruments. If they are some problems, I will go to camera shop and fix them before using on the trip. I check my knowledge about special tips for shooting pictures.

However, I revise my instruments by borrowing a wide len from my friend because it can be useful to take landscape view.

Finally, I publish my preparation for taking photographs at Chiang Dao National Park. I feel very excited to take photos and look forward to go there.

Mook's Creative Process : Buying the camera

I am one of the person who have never interested in bringing cameras to take any photos when we go travelling. This maybe because when I take the photo, it does not turn out to look good. Together with the fact that I think everything happened will remain in my memory anyway. There is no need to replay to photo to recap the feeling.

However,my attitude was changed after a trip to Singapore last year. I found my inspiration to start taking the photo because of one friend. He always believes that the photo does not need to be very beautiful or perfect because when you take the photo, you did not capture the photo but rather the moments. I really like his idea. Then, I start to look out for my camera.

First, I brainstorm ideas of which type, which brand, and which model of camera that suits me. Then, I listed the types of camera such as Compaq, Mirror-less, and DSLR and the brand of Canon, Nikon, Fuji film, Samsung, Panasonic, and so forth. For the model, I listed 100D, XM1, and G16.

Then, I organize by crossing out some of the cameras that do not match with my preference of a small-sized, clear-colored photos, and a nice scenery view. I crossed out the Compaq G16 because eventhough it is in a small-sized, but the censor is not large enough.

After that I draft by choosing the ones that I like the most. I selected by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the two remaining models. I also went to the Pantip or Youtube to find some user reviews. Then, I decide on the camera that matches with my preference. I choose XM1. This model is excellent in clear-colored photos with very simple function buttons to use. It is also small with only 300 grams.

After I have chosen the model, I need to review whether there are any functions that I think I did not feel comfortable. Fortunately, I am satisfied with my selected one. Therefore, I do not need to revise the model of my camera.

Lastly, I am ready to publish or buy the camera. After I bought it, I took it with me to go to another trip. I took several photos and I am really happy with the photos. I think I have made the right decision.

Aew's Creative Process: Great Trip of My Life

Last two years, I had a great time to travel with my friends. The begining of our trip was that we wanted to spend time with each other in a special place, so we planed to go to the beach on long holidays.
First, we brainstormed where did we want to go the most, and we found that Krabi was our choice.
We began to organized our trip including where did we want to stay, how did we go to Krabi and the activities that we would like to do.
Moreover, we drafted our plan and reviewed more information from internet to make our trip perfectly. We planed to go to PP island in the first day and travel around Krabi another day.
However, it was raining when we arrived Krabi. Therefore, we revised our plan which we postponed trip to PP island to the next day. It was raining too hard, so we cannot go out of the hotel. Nevertheless, we also had a great time in our room which is playing cards with each other.
When we went to PP island, I found that PP island is the most beautiful place to go snorkeling. We took a lot of pictures at PP island. After we came back, my friend published our photo at facebook for sharing to another friends.
Eventhough there was some unexpected event occured in our trip, it is still a great trip which I will never forget.

Natt's Creative process: Organizing my own room

I am easily distracted by many things. So I need to make the room suitable for me in terms of easy to use.
First, I need to sit down and try to think that which part of the room is suitable for such an activity. For example, my desk needs to be in the position that near the window. When I am tired from my study or work, I need something to help me feel relax such as trees or flowers. The green color can help you feel relax. Another example may be the position of my bed. Because I am really distracted, a bed should be in the most quiet and dark side of the room which makes me can sleep deeply all night. When I get up, I feel refreshed a lot.
Next, I need to organize all of the ideas in order to realize that which one can become true based on the size of the furniture or the area in my room. Also, I may need to find some decoration to make my room beautiful.
Then, I will move the furniture followed by my idea and also decorate my room to get the most preference.
I will try to review the arrangement of my room. and then I may making a few changes for my room to get more enjoyable.
Finally, it is time to use my room. If I go to the right way, I feel very happy when I use it. ^_^

Chompoo's Creative Process: Cooking testy Thai curry

Cooking is my daily routine. My meals usually consist of stirred fired vegetable and omelette. Occasionally, when I have a lot of free time, I will create special food that challenge myself. Thai curry is one of them.

First of all, I brainstorm ideas about how to cook the curry. Sometime I need to do some research on the internet about how to cook curry that I am not familiar with. Then, I have to find out spices, vegetable and meat in my refrigerator. Are they match with the type of curry? And are they fresh enough to cook and do not cause diarrhea?

Organizing the ingredients is my second step. I slide meat and vegeble before separating them in two little bowls then estimate spices I will use to flavour my curry. Next, I put them in right order because some has to cook longer, some requires shorter time.

Then, I draft my curry by boiling water and put the spices in. I add meat when the water is fully boil. When the meat is already cooked, I put the vegetable in my curry and seasoning it with some salt, sugar and also the most important thing, monosodium glutamate.

After that I review my cooking by tasting my curry. Is it too salty or too sweet? Are there anything that I can add to improve it? If yes, make it better.

Next, I gently pour it in my favorite bowl. To decorate this curry, I put parsley and slided chilli on it and wipe out some curry that spill on bowl's side. Now, my food is ready for serving.

Finally, for publishing my curry, I call all of my family members to eat and praise my curry. This time will be wonderful family hour.

Earng’s Creative Process: making makeup tutorial video

First step - I brainstorm and do some research on the internet to decide on which makeup look I want to create. I also consider if the makeup look I choose suit my face and my personality. Besides, I want to choose the one which requires makeup techniques that I am good at.

Secondly, I gather and organize my makeup products and tools - primer, foundation, concealer, powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner, eyelash curler, mascara, brow pencil, brow mascara, blush on, bronzer, highlighter, lipliner, lipstick, sponge, brushes, cotton pads, cotton buds, as well as, my video camera.

With the camera on after I say my greeting to the viewer, I apply the primer and the foundation all over my face in order to draft my makeup. I then follow the next steps - applying powder, eyeshadow, and other products on my face with different kinds of brushes.

I review my makeup by checking if there is any inconsistency of the color on any parts of my face. I also take a careful look at how my lashes are curled.

When I find that some area on one of my eyelids is a bit messy, I then revise the color using a cotton bud and reapply the eyeshadow to fix it.

Eventually, after I satisfy with the makeup look I create, I say goodbye and turn the camera off. My makeup tutorial video is ready to be published on youtube!

Meow’s Creative Process: Booking the concert tickets.

My favorite hobby is listening to music, especially in Korean song. When the Korean singers prepare their shows in Thailand, I and my friend, Ann, are very excited. For me, to book the concert tickets, we should have the creative process.

First, I brainstorm ideas about how to booking the tickets. We can book the tickets online or book at the ticket office. Which is more quickly?  And where would we like to sit? Think about the ticket’s price- it’s expensive or not? And can I pay by card? My brainstorming here that online booking and pay by card is convenience for me. Because we want to see the singers closely, the first row near the stage is more interesting than others.

Next, I organize the people who can help us about the online reservation because I think that many fans also want to sit in the first row. Therefore, we want at least three persons to make the booking online. One books the tickets in the middle, one books those on the right, and the last one books those on the left. All of seats could be in the front row. I have to borrow the credit card from my sister to pay for the tickets which we confirm booking.

To draft my booking plan. I ask Ann and my sister to help me, and describe what they have to do.

We will review all of our bookings again to judge what the best seats are. If  the seats that we would like to reserve are not available, we make a revision to change the seat immediately. It might be the second or the third row in the middle.

Finally, publication is when we confirm, pay for the tickets and have enjoy in the concert.

Ob's Creative Process: Building a house for my Labrador puppies

My sister is going to give me three little puppies. I can't wait to see them and I really want to take care of them. The problem is I've already had two big dogs. I should not leave my puppies with the big dogs. They will hurt my puppies. I have to build a house for my puppies in order to protect them.

First of all, I brainstorm ideas about how to build the house. I could make the house from wood. I have to design size, shape, and decorations. I think about materials which necessary for the house such as wood, zinc, nails, and paint. I also list the tools for making the house.

Next, I organize the process that I'm going to do first. I set the floor plan and prepare materials and tools. I need to build and decorate the house.

Then, I draft the house. I begin with the wall and floor. I make the room from zinc. The last process is painting and decoration.

After construct the house, I review by look through it. I find a flaw in the house. I put my puppies in the house to check if they have enough space. My sister help me check decoration and painting.

When I found a few flaws in the house, I revise it by reconstruct part of it or add nails. If there is some decoration which make my puppies feel uncomfortable, I will remove it.

Finally, I have done construction. The house is ready for my puppies. I publish the house be let my puppies stay there. My puppies must be happy with their house. They will be safe from big dogs.

Jan's Creative Process: skipping class for an exciting travelling experience

I'm a girl who loves to spend money on travelling rather than buying cosmetics, having food in the fancy restaurant or even study. However, I don't really have time to travel a lot since I have been studied AUA so hard. The process i'm telling you right now is the nice method of skipping classes and out for the weeked !

First, I brianstorm idea about places that I want to visit such as beaches, mountain, shopping market and how many day I will skip the classes. Besides, place and days, I'm planing on the trasportation that I will take and budget I would spend on this fantastics trip.

After figure out location which is Samui Island, and decide to fly on Friday night and back on Sunday afternoon which means I have to skip saturday classes, I'm now organizing the activities during the trip. I plan to learn scuba diving, skin diving, laying on the beach for tanning my skin, going to the waterfall in the island, having really good massage and drinking at the bar at night.

Then, I draft the trip scheudle just to see that's everything is fit perfectly.

However, I revise the trip schedule as I check with the hotel, bar, airline and the weather in Sumui Island.     I decide to change a  shedule which  I will not go to the waterfall as there is not much water because it is not rainy season. Moreover, I change sunday flight from the afternoon to 10.00 pm since there is a free mini concert at 6.30 pm - 8.00 pm. at the bar.

Lastly, publication is when I'm spending my weeked on the gorgeous beaches and doing exciting activities I love.

Bell's Creative Process: Handmade Mother's Day Card

Whenever August is coming, I have to come up with a present for my mom because her birthday is in August and mother's day in Thailand is also in August, so for me it's like killing two birds with one stone. If I have time, I will make my mom a birthday/mother's day card to show my appreciation and gratitude towards her. I think making a card really express those feelings to my mother very well because I design and make the card myself and it is also a good way for me to express my creativity.

I first brainstorm ideas about lots of things, such as what kind of card it would be, what kind of decoration it would have, what kind of material I should use, what message I would write and so on. I do not want to make the same kind of cards that I made before and I want to wow my mom, so it has to be something amazing!!! (I hope I could make it in time.)

Next, it comes to organizing my ideas which is a very hard step for me because I would have lots and lots of ideas and I like most of them, especially when it comes to choosing just one kind of card to make. I also organize the material used in decoration and tools that I need for making the card. If I don't have the material then I have to buy them (using my mom's credit card, so please don't tell her because it would be like she's buying her own gift >_<).

Anyway, now that I have all the things I need. Drafting would be the next step. I make the birthday/mother's day card for my mom. I carefully do the decoration as I have designed and complete the whole card no matter how long it takes me.

Then, I review my card by looking at the design, the balance of decorations, the artistry of the card (if there's such a thing555) and I also check if this card express the feelings that I want my mother to know or not.

For the revision, I make some changes if needed. For example, if the color of the decoration is too pale, I would apply more color or if the message does not convey my feelings, I would write another one.

It's time for publishing or what I would like to call it "the moment of truth". I give my card to my mother on her birthday. If she likes it, then my mission is complete, Huray!!!. (Of course, she would like my card but still I would be very excited to give her the card because it contains all the gratitude and feelings that I want to convey to her.)

Peter's Creative Process: treating a seven-year-old

One thing I enjoy doing about once a week is taking an old friend and his young son out. For me, this is a process that is more successful with a bit of creativity.

My brainstorming involves getting ideas on where we might go and what we could do. Food is always an important part of the treat, but should it be seafood, Italian, Japanese, or maybe McDonalds. And what else should we do? My brainstorming here can include ideas such as: visit a bookstore, watch a movie, have some ice-cream (I don't count this as a meal), and so on.

Next, I organize my possible activities: What is the main event or place we will visit? For example, the main event could be an outing to Paragon. Then I organize the other activities in an outline under this main one. At Paragon, we could meet at 10:30 in the morning, and first have an early lunch. The Laem Charoen seafood restaurant is one of my favourites. After lunch, we might visit the B2S shop to check out new films that have arrived since our last visit, and perhaps then pop over to browse in the toy department for a bit. This doesn't excite me very much, but Ea is usually keen to include this on our schedule.

Drafting means sending an SMS to invite Ea and his father to come along, and calling to briefly outline the main parts of the plan.

But of course, it's all up for review. If Ea prefers pizza to seafood on the day, we make a quick revision to the plan and visit Scoozi. Other revisions made after review might be to skip the toy department in favour of visiting Kinokuniya bookstore, or just to add this in addition to the toy department.

Finally, publication is when we meet at Paragon on Saturday morning and set for a few hours of enjoyment, perhaps making last minute revisions along the way.

Imagine writing an essay. CSC group 2

After asking us to reflect on the reasons for writing essays, Zemach, Broudy and Valvona  next ask us to imagine writing a short essay (2011, p. 2).
  •  Imagine that you have been asked to write a 500-word essay on a topic that is familiar to you:
    • How much time will it take you?
    • What will be the easiest part? The most challenging part?
    • What will you do first? Then what steps will you follow?
Again, response write your ideas on this question in a comment.

Why do we write essays? CSC group 2

In their first exercise, Zemach, Broudy and Valvona  ask us to consider reasons for writing essays (2011, p. 2). However, where they limit their discussion to university students, we will open it up little.
  • What are some reasons university students write essays?
    • Who else writes essays? Do they have other reasons than university students?
  • What are some common types of essays? What do writers use essays to do?
We are doing this not as the discussion the Zemach, Broudy and Valvona suggest, but as a response writing exercise. In a new comment below, write down your ideas to the author's questions above.

  • The purpose of response writing is to quickly write down the ideas that come to mind in response to something: it is not academic writing where we spend some time thinking before writing. Response writing is a useful way to practice fluency.
    • Write your ideas in sentences.
    • Get an idea. Write a sentence to put that idea into English.
    • Then write down the next idea in its sentence.
    • And the next one.
    • Don't stop writing: sentence, after sentence, after sentence.

Pear's Academic interrests

More over Science, I'm interested in cooking because my mother always make a delicious meal for our family. She is the one of my ideal person.

Mook's Academic Interests

My academic interest is the organisation behavior which I have experienced from my previous workplace at PricewaterhouseCoopers ABAS Company. There are several kind of people in the organisation which also lead to different behavior. I found that most of young people work in an active, enthusiastic way as well as adaptive to the new workplace structure change. However, older people tends to work in the same old traditional way which they believe that they are already settle down. This causes the organisation to move further as nowadays the world has changed and the organisation must develop or restructure in order to produce efficient and effective results.

Prae's Academic Interests

What? Photograph
When? high school

My academic interest is taking photograph. I have been interested in it since I was in high school. I learned this skill when I was in the photo club. My skill has been gradually improved. I spent at least two hours per week to share the techniques with friends. Personally, I think taking photograph is interesting because I can use my free time.

Aim's academic interests

My academic interest is learning the electone. It came out when I was 7 years old in primary school. I had a chance to join in music club and play the electone. The electone is an instrument which can be the whole band. For example, its sound can be piano, violin and guitar. At first, I did not understand how to play it, but there is an important thing to play it is reading sheet music. I studied hard and kept practicing reading sheet music everyday. By doing so, I could understand the rhythm and note of many songs. Finally

Job's Academic Interest

My academic interest is the relationship between sugar in human system and human weight. I am interest in this topic because I have heard this in the NPR news. It states that when we eat sugar, e.g. donuts, Coke or chocolate, the insulin hormone in our system will rise and make us to eager to have more sugar. This makes us fatter and fatter. This process happens because the sugar we take is easily absorbed by our body and changes to fat under our skin. This means that if we want to lose our weight, we should not have sugar, including any starch, in our system anymore.

Au's Academic Interests

I studied economics, which is my major in the university but my academic interest is pretty far from it  What I am really interested in is astronomy. The reason why I like astronomy is because when I was in the primary school, I was representative of school to attend the national cosmic knowledge competition and won the medal. After that competition, I have been fascinated by astronomy. At night when I was young, I usually came out of the house in the night to watch a star and learnt how to use a star map. Additionally, when there were a special sky eventsthe shooting star or the eclipse for instance, I asked my father to watch them with me. It was a memorable experience for me. When I was grown up, I am interested in the advanced theories of cosmology.

Mylk's Academic Interests

Besides Law, I'm interested in Politics, particularly democracy. It is an area dealing with power and internal affairs for all citizens. It is sometimes superior to law because the law is contemporarily dependent on the owner of sovereignty. For example, In Thailand we used to be one of the democratic countries. However, once the soldier stepped in and ousted the caretaker prime minister, the country is no longer democratic. Some people strongly support the democracy. Others merely want the happiness, better standard of living and security in any forms of administration.

Art's Academic Interests

Throughout my life, I've been interested in the language -- particularly English language. Ever since I was in kindergarten, I've indulged myself into practice of English. Everyday at school back then, whenever I had English classes, I was happy to learn it without second thought -- unlike mathematics or sciences classes.  My fondness of English has grown throughout years of school. During grade 11, I chose to go for a high school exchange student program in the United States. I went to a very small town in Arkansas with a population of less than 1,000 people. Having stayed there for a year surrounded by my host family and friends who are native Americans, it has developed my language skill to the point that now I have no fear to speak English and know how to improve my skill further. Language is like other skills. You can't stop using it, otherwise you'd lose it soon enough. Imagine that you're a English speaker but you're normally surrounded by Thai people who don't know a thing about English, what would the result be? Of course, you'll gradually lose it.

Wai's Academic Interest

My academic interest is about literature.  Since my childhood, I still remember the time when my mother bought a new book from the bookstore, in such that time I and my brother were always trying to read that book first. It makes my life lingered to every kind of books. Anyway, I paid a lot more attention to literature, especially modern literature.  When I grew up, I started looking at books as kind of things that makes human more humane. In the university, I studied Thai, but still devoted time for literature.  I started to get to know what was calling comparative literature - the way literature can vary in several countries, how children literature in diverse countries has the same idea or plot, the way people in particular area can even show the

Jig's Academic Interest

I am interested in playing ukulele. This interest has started 2 year ago but I did not have time to play it. Therefore I have just started to play ukelele recently. First I need to know two important parts which are what is chord and how to strum.

Peter's Academic Interests

I started writing about my academic interests this morning, so will continue from there.

When I started high school, I was fascinated by botany, but I didn't think I was very good academically, so expected to do only moderately well at high school. But I loved science and mathematics, and found, I think to my parents' as well as my own surprise, that I did very well at these subjects. My first love had been biology, and I wanted to understand the foundations, which led me to study cells, and that led naturally to chemistry. At the same time I loved mathematics: unlike everything else, it gave answers that were proven true with absolute certainty, and some of the connections were amazing.

For a while, my interests met in physics, which was my favourite subject for a few years, until in the last years of high school, mathematics took the lead. However, I was a good Catholic school, and the brother who taught me physics seemed to think that my passion for science might undermine my religious faith. His solution was to encourage me to read Christian philosophers - I read the Christian philosophers, but then continued to read others, with the best possible outcome for me, but probably very upsetting for the good brothers and priests who taught me.

Natt's Academic Interests

One of my academic interests is sport. I like to watch a lot f sports like soccer, volleyball or swimming. In my opinion, watching sport makes me feel relax and sometimes exciting. At the time that I studied in primary school, I also studied in many sports and every time that I played I feel really good and refreshed. I think sports help me get rid of some events and also focus only on one thing which is playing. You can develop not only your health and but also your mental.
Moreover, another academic interest is cooking. When I watch a cooking variety show, I really feel excited. People always makes me surprises with the new menu. They spark my idea to make my own dish, the taste that I like. I am happy to try to mix things together and taste them with myself. I know it is a lot of thing that I did not know about cooking. I will catch up with the new and also the old recipe. I may mix two styles together in order to get something new or interesting.
