Job's Academic Interest

My academic interest is the relationship between sugar in human system and human weight. I am interest in this topic because I have heard this in the NPR news. It states that when we eat sugar, e.g. donuts, Coke or chocolate, the insulin hormone in our system will rise and make us to eager to have more sugar. This makes us fatter and fatter. This process happens because the sugar we take is easily absorbed by our body and changes to fat under our skin. This means that if we want to lose our weight, we should not have sugar, including any starch, in our system anymore.

  1. Wow your topic is very interesting because I 'm on diet and trying to reduce sugar in food and I'm very carefully about my weight. If you get more information about this topic please let me know. I want to discuss about sugar with you.

    1. I'm really happy that you like my topic. Thank you very much. Last summer, I did a lot of research in Paleo food. This diet involves a lot of sugar and makes me lose a lot of weight. So I'll send you more information on that.

  2. I was interested in our sugar consumption about a year ago. The mayor of New York made a new law to ban shops selling large, sweet drinks. His argument was that the large sweet drinks, such as Coke, Pepsi, and so on, were seriously unhealthy.

In fact, I think he's 100% right. Sweet food, not only soft drinks, but cakes, chocolate and similar things, are bad for society: they cause bad health for the people who eat them in excess, and this causes lost productivity, higher medical costs, families torn apart when parents die early because of the bad food that they love to eat.

If causing harm to users or to society is a good enough reason to ban heroin, cocaine or yaa baa, then exactly the same reasons make it right for governments to ban unhealthy food: the makers of Pepsi, Coke and chocolate cake are a threat to the health of innocent children, so they should be put in prison with the drug dealers, whose products also harm users.

But I don't agree with the mayor of New York. Or the drug laws that make some drugs, but not others, illegal.
